Ep. 139: Will Ohio State's 2020 recruiting class be the Buckeyes' best yet?
Bill, Tim and Doug talk about 2020 commits Jack Miller and Paris Johnson Jr, while Bill reports from The Opening in Dallas and Doug and Tim dig into the list of the top 50 Buckeyes.
Ohio State's 2017 recruiting class set the bar for Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.
That group was ranked No. 2 in the nation and included five five-star recruits. And then the 2018 class was also ranked No. 2 in the country. The 2019 class is headed toward a top-10 finish, maybe top-five.
But might the 2020 recruiting class rise to a new level in Columbus?
On this Buckeye Talk episode, Bill Landis checks in from Dallas, where he covered The Opening recruiting event over the weekend, to talk with Tim Bielik and Doug Lesmerises about Ohio State commits and targets at the major showcase. They also broke down the recent commitments of quarterback Jack Miller and offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., the two players that have us talking about the 2020 class this way.
Then Bill get back to work, and Tim and Doug dove into their rankings of the top-50 Ohio State players for 2018. They broke down the first 30 players on the list, figuring out where freshmen like Josh Proctor, Jeremy Ruckert and Nicholas Petit-Frere should fit in with older players like Brady Taylor, Damon Arnette and Pete Werner.
As always, they then took your questions, which ranged from whether 2018 is Ohio State's best chance at a national title for the next few years to the nuances of french toast. And Doug then told the story of his best encounter with a football player while in college.
It's another edition of Buckeye Talk. You know the deal.
