S1E1 -Ep. 223: Did the Ohio State Buckeyes look like a playoff team?

Doug Lesmerises and Stephen Means on what Ohio State's 42-0 win over Cincinnati means for the rest of their season.

Ohio State football shut out the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, controlling both sides of the ball in a 42-0 victory that moved the No. 5 Buckeyes to 2-0 on this college football season.

So what’s it mean, especially as it relates to Ohio State’s place in the national college football landscape? If the Buckeyes play like that, can they make the College Football Playoff?

On this postgame episode of Buckeye Talk, Stephen Means and Doug Lesmerises answered that question and many others sent in by our Project Text subscribers. If you haven’t tried our OSU texts yet, get a couple thoughts on the Buckeyes from Doug every day for $3.99 a month. The first 14 days are free if you want to try it.

Nathan Baird was away this weekend, but he’ll be back on the next pod. For now, enjoy 45 minutes of talk about how well your team played.

Ep. 222: Should Ohio State be worried about Cincinnati?

Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means get ready for the Buckeyes in week two against the Bearcats and coach Luke Fickell

Ohio State is 1-0 and preparing for a familiar foe in week two, as the Buckeyes will welcome former Ohio State defensive lineman, assistant coach and interim head coach Luke Fickell to Ohio Stadium on Saturday. His Cincinnati team is coming off a week one win over UCLA, while Ohio State beat Florida Atlantic, so do the Buckeyes have anything to worry about?

On this Buckeye Talk episode, Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means address that issue, as well as what to think about the run game and J.K. Dobbins; what might change with Justin Fields in week two; the Buckeyes' streak of beating in-state opponents; and how Fickell wound up taking that job with the Bearcats.

The season is rolling, with these regular Wednesday podcasts and postgame episodes on Saturday, so we thank you for listening to Buckeye Talk.

Doug Lesmerises is joined by national college football writer Ralph Russo of the Associated Press to place the Buckeyes and Ryan Day in the national landscape.

On this Buckeye Talk, Doug Lesmerises is joined by Ralph Russo, the national college football writer for the Associated Press, to talk about where Ryan Day and the Buckeyes currently fit in the national landscape.

Doug and Ralph discuss how many programs have a legitimate shot to win a national title; how Clemson arose to take what looked to be the Buckeyes' spot in the CFB hierarchy; and how the playoff committee works and whether Ohio State is getting a fair shake.
